Hot-Weather Items Buoy American Eagle  American Eagle Outfitters posted a 27 percent increase in second-quarter earnings, bolstered by strong sales of "wear-now" merchandise. A&F Net Gains 14.5%  Abercrombie & Fitch posted a 14.5 percent jump in second-quarter earnings, as sales were up 15.2 percent to $658.7 million. United Retail Profits Rise 22%  United Retail Group Inc.'s repositioning on the merchandise front along with solid sales growth resulted in a 22 percent profit gain in the second quarter.
